Architect’s Statement

Designed by architect Moshe Safdie, the 285,000-square-foot Kauffman Center includes two stand-alone performance halls, both housed within a dramatic overarching shell featuring a glass roof and glass walls that provide sweeping views of Kansas City. View PDF

Kansas City Arts and Culture

Kauffman Center Education

Open Doors is an educational and community outreach program created by the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts that connects students from throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to the Center. The program is designed to provide opportunities for young people, especially those with limited experience of the arts, to attend performances at the Kauffman Center, as well as perform on the stages of the Center’s two performance spaces, the Muriel Kauffman Theatre and Helzberg Hall. Kansas City Symphony

Paul J. Schofer serves as the president and CEO of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Missouri. As the performance home of the Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City, the Kauffman Center hosts music, opera, theater, dance, lectures and other cultural presentations with local, national and international artists.
