fin-bravo-kc-blue-rgbKauffman Center for the Performing Arts celebrates its fifth birthday with a FREE event open to all on First Friday, Sept. 2 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. BravoKC: Kauffman Center Turns Five, Live! will host a variety of FREE live performances on three stages, lawn games on the south lawn and activities both inside and outside the Kauffman Center. This open house shines a spotlight on all those who helped make the Kauffman Center a bridge to Kansas City’s most dynamic downtown neighborhoods and a cultural cornerstone of Kansas City.

The schedule includes great local bands and an assortment of performances during an eclectic evening of entertainment. There will be music by KC’s very own Hembree, Jessica Paige, The Grisly Hand, Calvin Arsenia and special guests, The Phantastics and DJ Sheppa.  Performances by the Kansas City Ballet Second Company, Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s NEW Resident and Young Artists and members of the Kansas City Symphony will showcase the talent of Kauffman Center’s resident companies. The event will also feature the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance Division of Jazz Studies, lawn games by KC Crew, a cake decorating contest, specialty cocktails by 360 Vodka, unforgettable balloon structures and a fireworks display to close the evening.

BravoKC is a rain or shine event. Food, specialty cocktails and drinks will be available at the event for purchase. Please, no lawn chairs, coolers or outside food & drinks permitted for this event.

Parking: The most convenient parking for BravoKC will be available in the Arts District Parking Garage, directly attached to the Kauffman Center just south of the building with multiple access points to surrounding streets. Special thanks to four PB&J restaurants for their generous support of BravoKC. Each of the following restaurants will provide one menu item for cash sales.

Red Robin: The Ultimate Red Robin Slider: Freshly grilled burger with bacon, guacamole, cheese, crispy onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles on bun.
Yaya’s: Greek salad and chicken skewer with citrus vinaigrette.
Newport Grill: Sushi and ceviche, citrus scallop ceviche, wonton crisps.
Burnt End BBQ: Burnt End BBQ bowl with southwest succotash, crispy onions and southwest chipotle glaze.

Small plates will be available for $6 each and an all you care to eat option will be available for $20 per person.
