Saint Luke’s Hosts Moms for a Sound Bath at the Kauffman Center

A Mother’s Day Sound Bath with the Kauffman Center and Saint Luke’s

Saint Luke’s Muriel I. Kauffman Women’s Heart Center was proud to present a Mother’s Day Sound Bath with Acoustic Meditation at the Kauffman Center.

About the Mother’s Day Sound Bath

Beyond hosting performances of all genres, the Kauffman Center strives to enrich the lives of everyone in our community through exceptional experiences. As a nonprofit organization, one way the Kauffman Center can offer unique events for the community is through its premier partnership with Saint Luke’s.

Throughout the year, Saint Luke’s and the Kauffman Center present various events open to the community, including several sessions of Yoga at the Kauffman Center. This year, Saint Luke’s added a new event in recognition of Mother’s Day. The Mother Day Sound Bath at the Kauffman Center featured a sound bath and acoustic meditation for the first time in Brandmeyer Great Hall on a gorgeous sunny day. Unplug KC led more than 200 people through two sessions of sound healing methods for relaxation and self-care practice.

What is a sound bath?

Sound baths are a therapeutic activity immersing the senses with powerful sounds, music and vibrations. Sound healing follows the belief that the universe consists of vibrations, and when our body’s vibrations are out of harmony, it can create physical and emotional obstacles.

During the sessions, guests rested on yoga mats with new eye masks provided by Saint Luke’s as the
instructors played soothing instruments, such as finely tuned quartz crystal and Tibetan singing bowls. After each session, healthy snacks were given out. In addition to creating a peaceful environment in which to relax, sound baths can also have other benefits, such as stress relief, improved sleep quality and decreased blood pressure.

Prioritizing Women’s Heart Health with Saint Luke’s

Prior to and after each Sound Bath session, Saint Luke’s professionals offered free blood pressure checks to all attendees of the event to further emphasize the importance of monitoring blood pressure.

The Kauffman Center was honored to host
Saint Luke’s Muriel I. Kauffman Women’s Heart Center and supports its efforts in spreading awareness about women’s heart health. Saint Luke’s calls attention to high blood pressure or the “silent killer” as a main cause of various heart problems with few early symptoms.
