Philip Glass can undoubtedly be counted among the most important composers of the last fifty years. Even though his music is often described as ‘minimalist’, his productions are anything but. His operas Einstein on the Beach, Satyagraha, Akhnaten and The Voyage have played throughout the world’s leading performance venues. Celebrating Glass’ 75th Anniversary, An Evening of Chamber Music features a collection of newly-composed works in an intimate performance by Glass on piano alongside Tim Fain – one of the world’s most up and coming violinists. Tim Fain has emerged as a mesmerizing new presence on the music scene and was selected as one of Symphony magazine’s “Up and Coming Young Musicians of 2006”. Fain has commissioned a new work from Glass called Partita for Solo Violin which will premiere this fall in New York City.
